Artist's Comments

Only found out today that there was an emoteicon competition taking place. This is my rather late and most probably un-historical emote for 's competition. It's supposed to show one of the earliest television sets, which were literaly no more than a box with a small hole that is the screen lol. Basically the emote struggles to see the image on the tiny screen (after wacking it a few times first to get it to work lol) and tries to make it out by pressing his face to the screen - which is bad for your eyes you know. Back then radio was more popular in the 1940's up until tv sets were made more afordable. Since then tv has been, you could say, compulsory to everyday life. My history is a little fuzy so please correct me if I am wrong. I am though quite certain that the tv sets were at the time a break through in technology - so let's give the little tacky tv a pat on the back ^^;

I thought the TV's were huge (like a small jukebox) - but other than that, this is quite cute. I like the magnifying glass touch. :)

This is SO cute!!! I dunno about America, but over here in Britain the television didn't really become affordable and take off till the Fifties - loads of people bought one just to watch the Queen's corination! Good luck with that comp!

I know - my nan and grandad used to listen to the radio up until my uncle and mum were born - they used to watch loads of cartoons. Back then (and upto the 80's aswell I think) there used to be only 4 or 5 channels and they would turn off for the night .... :dead:

thanx for the comments!

:icontalyra:
Sorry, didn't read your profile and assumed you were American :blush: Please don't hit me!!!
Some of us still only have five channels =P Four didn't appear till about the Seventies or Eighties, and Five can't even be ten years old. To start with, it was only the BBC, and you're right, programming wasn't 24 hours a day.
